Blessed Assurance was born in 2009 when a small group of believers in Nairobi felt a deep calling to move beyond the walls of the church and into the streets, slums, and villages of their nation. Armed with little more than faith and a van full of food, they began feeding families in the Mathare slum.
What started as a weekend outreach quickly grew into a full-fledged ministry as more volunteers joined and resources came in. Within a year, they had launched an education support program and a medical outreach team. God continued to multiply the work.
Today, Blessed Assurance operates across eight communities in Kenya, with international partnerships supporting our work in three additional countries. We remain as committed as ever to the vision that sparked it all: every person deserves to experience the love of Jesus Christ.

From a small feeding program to a multi-country ministry — here is how God has led us.
Founded by Pastor James Mwangi and a team of 12 volunteers. First feeding program in Mathare Slum, Nairobi, serving 80 families weekly.
First 25 scholarships awarded to children in Mathare. An after-school tutoring centre opened with donated laptops and books.
Partnership with a team of Christian medical professionals. First medical camp treats 300 patients in Kisumu county.
First borehole drilled in Turkana. The Clean Water Initiative is formally established as a pillar program.
Our first children's home opens, welcoming 24 children. Church planting arm launches, establishing 5 congregations.
Emergency food relief to 2,000 families. Virtual discipleship training launched for 150 church leaders across East Africa.
Programs expanded to Uganda and Tanzania through local church partnerships. Donor base grows to 1,500 regular supporters.
